The Board of INUSA has announced that Minister of State Joe McHugh, T.D. will attend and deliver a keynote address at INUSA16 to be held September 15-18 in San Francisco.
This will be Minister McHugh’s first official visit to the United States since assuming the role of Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development, and will be an opportunity for him to hear from and interact with leaders and members of Irish Network USA. INUSA has been widely praised for its efforts to grow an inclusive and diverse membership made up of Irish, Irish Americans and ‘friends’ of Ireland. With 21 chapters across the United States, and efforts underway to launch in ten additional cities, INUSA encourages members to ‘invest’ in Ireland through business, culture and arts, education and sport.
“For Irish Network USA’s efforts to engage the ‘Global Irish’ across the US to remain relevant, it is critical that our mission remains closely aligned and in tune with Ireland’s Diaspora Policy,” stated Steve Lenox, President, Irish Network USA. “The support and encouragement we have received from the Irish Government has been a critical part of our success, and we look forward to not only sharing our progress with Minster McHugh, but also hearing from him on how we can continue to make sure the links between the US and Ireland continue to grow.”
Hosted this year by Irish Network Bay Area, INUSA16 will be Irish Network USA’s fourth annual national conference. Previous conferences have been held in Boston, Austin and Washington, D.C. and have offered attendees the opportunity to hear from high level speakers from both the US and Ireland, celebrate Irish culture and sport, share best practices for chapter development and develop meaningful relationships with members from across the US.
“I am very much looking forward to attending the 4th Irish Network USA conference this September,” stated Minster McHugh. “It will be an opportunity for me to recognize the great work INUSA is doing to engage and network the Irish community in the US and to discuss with them how best to continue our work together in advancing the interests and addressing the concerns of our Diaspora.”
In addition to hearing from Minister McHugh, INUSA16 will also feature a number of other relevant speakers, and will also expand on opportunities for attendees to interact with each other through a number of workshops and networking opportunities. Registration will open soon, and sponsorship packages are available.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Irish Network USA chapters and members to the West Coast for the first time, and to show them the very best of the Irish community in San Francisco,” stated Ivan Harrow, President, IN Bay Area. “Building off of the success of past conferences, we have no doubt that attendees will leave our city more equipped to achieve the multi-faceted mission of INUSA and to play an even greater role in building ties within the Irish community here in the US and with home.”

Following their successful screening in Boston, Irish Network USA is excited to introduce our members to “Older Than Ireland” a film directed by our friend Alex Fegan which has been described as “a heartfelt piece of work, sensitively filmed and beautifully shot.” This film is a fantastic opportunity for Irish, Irish Americans and ‘friends’ of Ireland to witness stories of Ireland, as told through the eyes of thirty Irish centenarians.
“We are proud that our ‘Irish Pub Film’ was presented at the first Irish Network USA Film Festival in 2014, and subsequently shown by chapters across the US” said Alex Fegan, Director. “As we planned our US tour for ‘Older Than Ireland’ we specifically looked for cities that have a strong Irish Network presence.”
‘Older Than Ireland’ will launch in NYC tomorrow at the The Cinema Village, 22E 12th St, Manhattan at 7:00 p.m. and will play there until May 5. Alex will also be on hand for a Q&A screening on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st. ‘Older Than Ireland will also be screening in Atlanta, Houston, Minnesota and San Diego during the months of May and June, more details can be found here.
Keeping with our mission of helping to promote Irish culture through film, we are proud that Alex Fegan believes “Irish Network USA is absolutely vital for Irish filmmakers and artists to be able to reach Irish Diaspora and people interested in Irish stories” and we hope that the Global Irish community will take the opportunity to see this wonderful film when it screens near them.
If you’d like more information about how you can arrange for a screening of the film near you email us by clicking here.

Irish Network USA is proud to announce that Mark Redmond, Chief Executive, American Chamber of Commerce Ireland will be a keynote speaker at their third annual National Conference to be held November 5-8 in Boston, MA. Mr. Redmond will address delegates during the plenary session on Friday, November 6, on the continued efforts to drive trade and investment between Ireland and the US in both directions. Mr. Redmond will also formally introduce Irish Network USA to the American Chamber’s “World of Talent in Ireland” initiative and participate in a Q&A with those in attendance.
This conference will be the third hosted by INUSA, with the first two being held in Washington, D.C. and Austin, Texas respectively. These conferences provide an opportunity for INUSA members to hear from a variety of speakers on topics related to INUSA’s mission of encouraging “investment” in Ireland. Other speakers confirmed for this year’s conference include Ambassador Anne Anderson, Christina Noble, Founder, The Noble Foundation, and Joe O’Brien, Project Manager, Crosscare Migrant Project.
“One of the pillars on which Irish Network USA has been built on is supporting the efforts of US companies seeking to do business in and through Ireland,” stated Steve Lenox, President, Irish Network USA. “Within our ranks we have countless members with the education, skills and desire to fill many of the roles that are being created in Ireland by American Chamber member companies. It is fitting that we would work with the American Chamber to achieve this goal, and we are honored that Mark Redmond would take time out of his schedule to join us at what we know will be a memorable conference.”
The American Chamber is the leading international business organization in Ireland. It represents the interests of the 700 US companies in Ireland who employ 140,000 people. In May the Chamber in partnership with IDA Ireland launched the World of Talent in Ireland campaign. The initiative promotes strength of the career opportunities that now exist in Ireland, targeting third level graduates of Irish universities.
Speaking about the event Mr. Redmond said “I am delighted to be participating in this great initiative. The key to the strength of Ireland’s relationship with the United States is the enduring commitment of leaders from business and cultural communities. IN USA is a great example of this commitment, I am looking forward to addressing the delegates on how to grow the relationship now and into the future.”
“Irish Network Boston is looking forward to welcoming INUSA members from across the country to our city in November” stated Sean Moynihan, President, IN Boston. “Many Boston companies have chosen Ireland as their European HQ, and the work of the American Chamber to make them feel right at home have led hugely to the success of their efforts. It is an honor for us locally to welcome Mark!”
With 20 chapters across the United States, and local efforts underway in an additional 7 cities/regions, Irish Network USA has the broad mission of connecting members of the “Global Irish” living in the United States by bolstering business opportunities and economic development between the United States and Ireland; supporting and encouraging Irish Arts and Culture through film, literature, theater, dance and language; encouraging and promoting the mission and expansion of Irish sports, throughout the United States; supporting the efforts of local Irish organizations and associations; and serving as a conduit between newly arrived Irish immigrants and their communities in Member cities and states.
“For our members ‘investing in Ireland’ means a lot of different things”, stated Deirdre Woodbyrne, Executive Director, Irish Network USA. “Whether it’s business, culture, education, sport, or anything else that drives one to want to connect with Ireland, we aim to provide that vehicle. In essence, we are a one stop shop for the ‘Global Irish’ to connect with Ireland in a tangible way.”

What happens when sixteen visual artists, two sculptors, a performance poet, a writer, a
musician, a singer, a performance artist and an actor / producer meet in a room in Ireland?
Between them they decide to collaborate, to join talents and move their art into spheres they
haven’t explored before. Between them they set up the first intercultural, cross disciplinary

And they call themselves:
‘idir’ – from the gaelic for ‘between’ …signifying collaboration between artists, between cultures,
between countries and continents.
This October they are invited by the New York Foundation For The Arts.
